Breadmaker Manuals & Bread Machine Recipes
The Breadmaker user manuals are mostly uninformative for a new user. For a better easier option, buy "The BIG Book of Bread Machine Recipes" by Donna Rathmell German (on Amazon; 600 recipes from 5 of her bread machine cookbooks) or other bread machine cookbooks and the resulting loaves will be enjoyable and varied.
Sunbeam Positives & Negatives
This breadmaker model is quiet when in operation. It beeps after the 1st rest so that you can add nuts or raisins, etc., and then beeps again when the baking cycle is completed. Removed bread from the machine quickly as it may lose moisture during the auto keep-warm cycle. The clean up is minimal and use the breadmaker's dough cycle to lessen the clean up and do the rest as usual.
There are negative aspects related to this bread machine:
Your loaves may be slightly caved, sunken or deflated as soon as the baking cycle kicks in. When the loaves are just slightly sunken, the appearance and taste are not affected. Try using less liquid than normal (for a firmer dough) or less yeast (to slow the dough expansion process for this machine) to prevent the sunken look next time.
Zojirushi BB-CEC20
Avid bread makers. this is your machine. It is amazing! No comparison with typical machines and this one is easy to use. No need to get the temperature of the ingredients just right this machines preheats and does that for you and get it just perfect. The bread quality is superior. The bread machine recipe book that goes with this one is good making it fun to experiment. No need not worry if it will be a flop! It bakes a beautiful loaf everytime.
Information on the Panasonic SD-YD250
This machine was pretty much the state of the art in bread machine technology in mid-2003. A negative for small home units as it's one of the larger units around with a 2.5 lb. loaf capacity. It will eat up your counter or cupboard space: you need just under 14" of width and height, and 10" of depth, so keep that in mind when you order.
The bread consistency is excellent. It's even good in the rapid mode, though the results are a bit better in the standard bake mode. Also, the rapid mode for whole wheat or multigrain bread is 3 hours (vs. 5 hours standard), so it's not like you can start the machine at the beginning of a meal and expect completed bread before you leave the table. The fastest full cycle -rapid bake mode for white bread is 1hr 55min.
Yeast advice for the Breadman TR520
For the price, this is a good bread machine. One thing you need to know is this... If you are not using the brand of yeast recommended by Breadman, your results may not be good. Their recipes are tested using Red Star Yeast Active Dry Yeast. Not all yeasts will yield the same result. Know how the yeast you're using will perform.
Use an organic yeast, and even using the amount recommended in the first white bread recipe, (1 Tbsp for a 2 lb loaf), the bread rose and fell. The taste was okay, but I knew when the loaf didn't dome, that the problem was too much yeast.
With experience using bread machines you will know how your yeast performs thru trial and error. A novice would not have known that there are differences in brands of Active Dry Yeast. Also, through experience, you need to know that the relative humidity will affect the outcome of your bread. Check your bread while it's kneading on a humid day to see if a little flour needs to be added, only adding a Tbsp at a time.
The West Bend 41300 Hi-Rise. It's selectable for four different loaf sizes
With a horizontal loaf pan, and dual blades, it is easy to prepare just about anything. The large windows make it easy to watch your bread and the display easy to read. It is programmable in terms of when the machine starts, and allows you to create a custom profile for home-made bread. Wake up to the smell of bread baking? Done!
The real test was actually making bread with it. Use the basic white bread recipe that comes with the manual and press start. look in now and again to see what happening, but don't hover,
The unmistakable aroma of rising dough will fill your senses, and sometime later, baking bread. When done take it out of the machine and place a wonderful looking and sounding loaf on the cooling rack. When I say sounding, this is to tap on the side of the crust lightly like with produce to get an idea of how the bread was inside. A properly cooked loaf should have a slightly hollow sound to it when tapped.
Cuisinart CBK-200 a downfall note & some positives
A reviewer mentioned the only downfall to this machine is that you can't change some of the options mid-cycle.
Once accustomed to this machine, then I think decisions should be made before the process begins, knowing how the machine operates. That said, I think the reviewer was probably correct for upper-echelon bread chefs, and those with that kind of experience might want to go with a $300+ machine.
The convection oven aspect of the machine adds to the thoroughness of the baking. The crusts come out exactly how you want them to, and the bread is scrumptious.
Oster 5838 ExpressBake good reviews
There is only one complaint about this machine: the bread is so good that you will average about one loaf every day during the week and about 3-4 loaves every weekend
Here is a suggestion,: make up the dry ingredients (except for the yeast) ahead of time by measuring out the flour, salt and sugar and put into a zipper bag, labelling it as to which kind of bread it is. (We make about 3-4 varieties every week.) That way, you only have to grab the bag after putting in the liquid ingredients; and then, of course, there's the yeast. (Don't forget to keep room temperature water, butter, oil and eggs out on your counter as well.)
The manuel is well written and will have you making bread in no time. There are three crust settings for how dark you would like your bread, and one touch buttons for the type of bread you are making (french, basic etc.)
TR2700 wonerful features for perfect crust
This bread machine has many wonderful features; a digital panel which is easy to understand and operate, a see-through window, and most importantly, very easy cleanup. Aside from easily washing the pan and paddle, just wipe the inside of the machine with a damp cloth as matter of principle as nothing will accummulated in there.
The TR2700 makes a bit more noise during the kneeding cycles which is due to the stainless steel construction vs. steel and plastic which don't conduct noise as well. Still, the TR2700 is top notch and well worth the money if you love to make bread and would use it frequently.
COVECTION FEATURE. The first thing you will notice about adding convection to a breadmaker is the crust. The entire crust of the bread, not only the top is VERY CRISPY
Home Bakery 1-Pound-Loaf Mini Breadmaker
This breadmaker is terrific for couples, singles, or apartment dwellers if all you need is a small loaf of bread (1 LB). Its price may be offsetting, but it is a fantastic little device made of high quality materials. Most breadmakers are too large and end up being stored in the closet, but this machine is small, sleek, and bakes perfect loaves of bread. It is the same width as a normal toaster and is small enough to keep out on the kitchen counter. The loaves on regular cycles take between 3:40-3:00 to bake, and it has a timer with a keep warm feature. It is quiet and any 8-year old could easily operate its simple push button controls. Your kind of machine? KISS.
It boasts an even-heating element, and good quality, heavy, non-stick baking pan, which is easy to clean. With a pasta/cookie dough feature feature. The tiny paddle is very efficient at making dough for cookies as well..
One small issue: It bakes a small, vertical loaf of bread and a 1 LB loaf is smaller than you think it is. So the rounded part on top takes up about 1/4 of the loaf. Also, your bottom slice will have a gaping hole where the paddle bakes into it. While this is not much of a problem for a large 2 LB loaf, for this small loaf, it is a bit of a waste. It all depends on how much fresh home made bread you want in one bake.

WOW! THe bread is so good that anyone will like it. The bread is light and the crust is perfect. It is even easier to slice. love this Breadman TR875 bread machine!,
With this machine, it is as easy as throwing a few ingredients in the machine and pressing a button! You can make french bread, whole wheat bread, brown rice flour bread, irish potato brown bread, and more. The recipes that came with the machine work well, but also picked up a few bread machine cookbooks for more variety.
In addition to making great bread, you will love how quiet the machine is and may have to stop yourself checking if it us working. It's a little smaller than equivalent 2 lb. machines and so fits under kitchen cabinets, and it looks great in any kitchen. There's a helpful fruit/nut add-in beep, the shape of the loaf is nicer than some other machines; and the finished bread easily slides out of the pan.
